My name is Rob, a qualified teacher with over 17 years of working in education. I am a firm believer that an open and honest relationship between pupil and tutor is key to ensuring the pupil achieves the highest possible outcomes from their sessions. I use a strong questioning technique to often ask the tutor to ’teach’ me, showing me exactly what their understanding is and giving clear direction of how to improve.

Beginning my career as a sports coach, I moved into the classroom 7 years ago. I have been a class teacher in each year between year 3 and 6 teaching all subjects to pupils across that range. More recently I have been specialising in mathematics. More specifically, focusing on 13+ education in preparation for pupils entrance exams to their senior schools. Understanding how the fundamental basics at the younger years underpin the more advanced skills as your child develops is key to understanding where any improvements need to be made.

Working with pupils of all ages and all backgrounds in various places around the world (I have worked in both Australia and America) has steered me to a position of clear and concise instruction for the pupils who I teach.

Enjoyment is high on my list of importance when tutoring, often this may be via the tasks given to the pupil or the interactions we have.
